A two-day public symposium will be devoted to Babyn Yar/Babi Yar as a signal event in the Holocaust, as a killing site of Jews, ethnic Ukrainians, and other peoples of Ukraine, and as a symbol of humankind’s inhumanity brought to its nadir during World War II.  A multi-authored book dealing with aspects of Babyn Yar, prepared under the editorship of Vladyslav Hrynevych and Paul Robert Magocsi, will be launched on the opening day of the symposium. The book’s editors and some of its authors will be present to discuss their work with the public. The symposium will be held on September 26-27, 2016 in cooperation with the Institute of History, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in Kyiv.
